Spring in Rural New Brunswick, Ca...

Good Evening my dears..

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

Spring is such a glorious month and there is no place I would rather be then right here in good old New Brunswick..

You all know me..

I am not a traveller.. smile

Today we were on our way to a Home Going service of a wonderful sister in the Lord and it was a beautiful drive so I thought I would take a few pics..

The lovely Belleisle Bay which has flooded due to the heavy rains over the weekend...

Spied the sweet chickens...

Not very clear but they are there.. White ones..

Such a gorgeous bay of water..

Flooding as you can see but the roads were fine..

Grass is greener on the other side perhaps? smile..

Next winter's wood..

I don't even want to think about it.. grin..

.Plenty of spring chores to do on these farms..

My favourite farm animal..

Love love sheep..

I am hoping one of my kids will read this and plan to put all of their money together and buy me one for Mother's Day..

I told Terry and he said ... no....

Oh well...

I can dream.. smile..

Really..

He is lucky that I don't want one of these...

Right? grin..

Look at the horns on that thing..

There is a farm of them near Sussex..

A simply beautiful farm...

I wonder what he is looking at...

Dreams of yesterday...

So sad when these old barns fall down...

But still lovely...

Back to Sussex...

A rural drive and such...

Hi everyone..

So glad you dropped by..

We went for a little rural drive on the weekend and thought you might like to see how we have lost most of our snow..

Spring has sprung.. sort of.. smile..

We had a couple of days and nights of roaring like wind that just devoured the snow..

Rain, too..

The rivers are full but so far no flooding..

Thank the Lord..

I am always on the look out for livestock and chickens..

I love chickens and geese and ducks...

All of the above are in the picture but you can't see the chickens which are on the other side of the fence..

And then...

We drove past these two darlings..

How I love them..

They are shedding their winter coats..

And of course ... sheep..

I keep asking for a couple but so far it hasn't happened.. smile..

Who knows, though...

A lot of huge farms around the area..

This is rural New Brunswick..

I think I will take a few pics in the city next time we go..

We only live about half an hour from one but it is a small city compared to such cities as Toronto or Montreal...

I prefer small cities...

The old church that Terry attended growing up...

Huge piles of wood everywhere..

This is a province rich in some natural resources and wood is one of them..

A lot of us burn wood for the Winter heat...

Then we dropped by the farm for a few hours and I made a loaf of French bread..

I used the no knead recipe but replaced the water with potato water..

It gives the bread a nice texture and has Vitamin C and potassium to aid health..

Some people freeze their potato water in ice cube trays for bread recipes and it thickens gravy or you can add to soups and stews..

I also freeze carrot water and such ...

At the beginning of each week now I make this little Jewish type salad..

Chop up tomato, cucumbers, onions, green pepper and lots of herbs.. Parsley, mint and such..

Add some olive oil and lemon juice..

Add salt and pepper when serving..

We love it with omelets, in pita bread or as a wee side salad..

Made a nice little lunch for us with the new bread...

This picture was taken today when we dropped by to see a couple of my young cousins who have moved to our area..

Lovely out but a bit cold..

Days of June and our Grandson...

Good Evening everyone..

Hope you are all enjoying these lovely June days..

They are so fleeting, aren't they?

We took a little trip last weekend and I snapped a few pics of Grand Lake and the St. John River...

The colours this time of year are beyond beautiful..

Green is my favourite colour and there are so many different hues in just this one photo, eh?

A few quaint looking buildings, too..

This is the old bridge as they have built a new one...

I love taking these drives and looking at everyone's gardens and such..

I have my Kitchen Aide fixed so today I made a few banana breads for hubby..

Our oldest grandson is graduating this year !!

He is a such a great guy and not because he is our grandson but he really is..

He excels at whatever he puts his mind to and has had some wonderful experiences this past year..

He attended a week of Confederation meetings in Charlottetown,

P.E.I.. and loved it all..

He was selected to join the Student Legislature in our capital city of N. B. and was voted in by the students to be Premier for the weekend..

This past weekend he was chosen to represent New Brunswick at the 2015 Youth Ambassador Caucus in Ottawa..

Jared at the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa..

And then in July he is headed for China to represent our province as a member of the Junior Team Canada with Global Vision on a trade mission..

We are very proud of our grandson..

His accomplishments will always amaze us and gladden our hearts.

We are sure that God will have his hand on his life and he will have blessings that may take him all over the world..

And that would be awesome ...

But our one ambition for our grandson is that he be a man after God's own heart..

Then everything else can follow...

I know I sound like a typical grandma and I am...

But mostly I am a thankful Grandma...

To be blessed with all of our grandsons is something that I thank God for every day..

Thanks once again for visiting today..

I promise not to go on about my grandsons until the next one graduates.. grin..

I do not often talk about our family but they only graduate from high school once.. smile..

Another Farm Stay.. ...

Hello ...

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth ..

Terry and I spent a few more days at the farm this week and had a great time..

The weather was good except one day when it rained..

It didn't really matter as he was working inside on the pantry...

It is coming along fine although it is taking longer then we thought, of course..

It seems whenever one does this type of work it takes longer and costs more then you thought it would..

I am going to hang a curtain there and he is has the boards cut for another shelf midway...

I love the old dresser ..

The drawers will come in handy..

We found an old porcelain sink at the end of someone's drive a few years ago and he is planning on hooking it up..

I will love that..

Above will be open shelves which I will paint eventually but for now they will be stained...

The border that I showed last post is going where the pots are going to be hanging.. I think...

And so on... smile..

Next week is tax week... ugh....

On with the story..

I did a bit of baking..

No knead bread... of course...

I did do a bit of kneading this winter but must say that this one loaf is sufficient for the two of us..

I love making the two small loaves and adding different flours, seeds, herbs, cheese and such...

While Terry worked on the pantry I housecleaned the livingroom..

It is not very fancy as you can see..

Just full of left over furniture and such..

The two old chairs there need new backs which I had hoped to do but forgot to take some padding so that is a job for another day..

One meal we had is a fave of Terry's and I think I have mentioned it before on here..

My version of Bubble and Squeak which is an English dish, I believe..

I just start with a bit of bacon...

Let it cook up a little and add sliced onion, green pepper and sliced raw potatoes.. Sometimes I just use leftover ones..

Then a bunch of thinly sliced cabbage...

Let it all cook up with salt and pepper..

At the end I add herbs ..

Whatever I happen to have..

This day was cilantro and lemon juice...

After the busy day we went for a little drive.. again..

You know how I detest this type of road...

Scares me half to death but this one was not muddy but hard ruts in a short side road..

What a surprise for at the end was the dearest house with a large sign which I think said Prosser House and the year of 1800 something.. I forget the year..

It was way up a side of the mountain ..

Terry would not let me take a picture and hardly gave me time to look at it as the road ended at their driveway so he just backed up and turned around.. Just respecting their privacy, I know but I am the curious type as you know..

I just cannot imagine living there in the old days...
