A Bit of This and That..

Hey everyone..
So glad you dropped by here today..
This is just another a bit of this and that kind of post..
One of these days I will surprise you with a post that has more focus ... Not all over the place.. smile..

Anyway..
We are still having winter weather here in the Maritimes of Canada.. Some snow and rain or whatever but Winter has lost it's sting for sure..
You can smell Spring in the air and the grip of cold seems to be gone..
But there is still snow and fires have to be made and a bit of bread whenever it calls our name.. smile..

My friend gave me this recipe the other day...
Potato Bread..
I will share the recipe with you as she is generous in giving out her recipes..

It is lovely and light..

F. Steeves Potato Bread or Rolls..

Boil 1 large potato in water..
Drain off 1 cup of water and cool a bit..
Mash the potato very well..

In a bowl put the cooled 1 cup water
3 T. sugar
2 tsp. instant yeast
5 T. melted butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 mashed potato
2 1/2 - 2 3/4 cups of flour..

Mix well.
Knead in your machine or by hand until smooth..
Place in oiled bowl and raise to double.
Put in pan or make into rolls and raise again..
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes for rolls or 30 - 35 minutes for loaf of bread..

Out of our Living room window the other day..
A wet snowy day..
So typical of our March weather..

Trying to use up our preserved food...

Homemade Chili Sauce, green beans, pickles and rhubarb jam...

I finally got the bookshelves cleaned and organised for another year..

A few cookbooks..
Found this one..
The Moosewood Restaurant Kitchen Garden ..

Really enjoy the recipes and the garden ideas..
Decided to make some Farmer's Cheese..

I saw the idea on MasterChef Australia..
This is one of my favourite cooking shows and just record them to watch when I can..
Anyway..
One of the contestants made the cheese..
Put whole milk in a pot and bring to a boil..
Pour in a bit of vinegar and the milk will separate into curds and whey..
Drain the curds from the whey in a cheesecloth lined strainer..
Wrap up the cheesecloth into a ball and store in fridge overnite.
In the morning you will have a lovely ball of soft cheese..
Be sure to save the whey for bread, sauerkraut for fermented veggies..
I made a spread with it from the recipe above..
Very good with Creamery Crackers or on Bagels..
Kind of like cream cheese  or cottage cheese.
Nice sprinkled over a salad, too.

More books..

Loving my new mug..
Oh and thanks to Lindsay who inspired me to try my hand at
 Pad Thai..
We both really liked it..
With the buying a bottle of Pad Thai sauce making it much easier to make..
This was a Shrimp one.. I so love shrimp..
Do you?

Terry and I took a nice little trip to Bangor, Maine over the weekend..

Dear old Charlie came with us and as usual he was a perfect dog..

I think he could live in the back of the car.. smile

We just took his car bed into the inn and he was good as gold..
Or so I thought..
The next morning Terry said that neither him or Charlie got much sleep..
Huhhh????
I slept like a log ..
I guess Charlie was not relaxed and kept getting up and walking around the room.  That made Terry nervous so he moved the dog's bed beside us so he could pet his head every time Charles wanted to walk around..
He claims he petted his head for two hours.. yawn!....
Oh well.. one of us had a good sleep.. grin..

We had a great time..
Shopping..
Thrift stores and the lovely Between Friends shop..
It has the same stock as I tried to have in the House of Henry..
Crafts, old books, old dishes, new household decor, lace and linens and so much more..
Only on a much bigger scale.. So lovely..
I bought an old blue lamp for the farm for 5 dollars,  an old 1974 Unicef Calendar with recipes for 2 dollars, a minature Daisy Churn which was new for 15 dollars and an old rabbit hook for 10 dollars..
I will take pics, I promise..

Here are some books I found at Good Will...
and
Some fabric pieces from there, too..
The Waverley ones are from Walmart..
Hope to make something with them..

Then of course the eating out..
Had a lovely anniversary dinner at Ruby Tuesdays as it is one of the places we always love..
They had the best dessert I have ever ate..
Apple Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch sauce..
We only stayed one night ..

That is always enough for us..
Two days and one night and then homeward bound..
I know.. I am pathetic .....
People just don't understand that I am not a traveller..
Love seeing this sign.. smile..

It is hard to believe that it has been 48 years since this night..

Just a couple of kids who found their way to this place in our lives..

Still holding the same old hand and still trusting my heart to his..
Still thanking God for the lovely days we have had together and the sweet family we share..
Life is what you make it and putting our hope and trust in the Lord Jesus has blessed us beyond measure..

So happy to have you visit and look forward to hearing from you sweet friends..
I also wanted to thank you dear girls who share my post on FB..
It really helps..

Take care...
Hugs..

Random Saturday..

Hello everyone..
So glad you dropped by tonight..
This is just another post of random everyday and it is once again a Saturday.. smile..
The weeks are flying, eh?
Spring is coming along fine here in Eastern Canada..
Slow compared to some perhaps but what we here are used to..

Terry and I went to Bangor for a couple of days this week..

Just a little getaway and a bit of retail..
Not that Terry does much shopping but he is a patient man..

I love going to places like Mardens, Goodwill and Between Friends..

I am not a mall nor clothes shopper..
But I do love fabrics, old dishes and such..
Oh and the Christmas Tree Shoppe of course..
Love the books at Goodwill and the fabrics and yarns at Mardens..

Look what I found at Between Friends..

This wonderful cast iron dish???
Mom said it probably belonged in an old stove..
I will be seasoning it as soon as we go to the farm..
What would you use it for?

Found this sweet apron.

Nice an big... smile..

And..
I love these..

A package of Eco napkins for the farm and a big box of large brown bread bags..
So great to gift bread in or anything really...
I know..
I like the weirdest thing..
They will come in handy quite often, I think...

Made a little Stir Fry...

I could put Bok Choy in everything..
Does your family like it?
Terry... not so much..
Oh and I made Dustin some cookies.. smile..

Took a drive up to the farm to check things out ...

I can feel the place calling my name..
As soon as it gets a bit warmer we will be there for the day and getting the house in order again..
It won't be long...

I am trying to get rid of some things and this is one..

A tea set...
I have to get it put on Kijiji or something..
I love the set but there are just so many dishes a person needs.. smile..

And speaking of selling..
Our old cottage in St. Martins...

I am trying my best to persuade Terry to get with it and put it on the market..
We can't be in two places in the Summer and we seem to be going into a new phase of our lives and enjoying the farm more..
So..
If any of you readers know of anyone who would like an old house by the sea let us know..
You can see the Bay and hear it but we are not on the beach..

Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
Tomorrow is once again the Lord's Day...

I came across this ...

One of my favourites..

Because he loves me, says the Lord...
This Psalm touches my heart every time I read it..

So blessed to have experienced a genuine relationship with the God of the universe and because I love Him then He is always available to me..
For whatever..

Do you know Him as your own?

John 3:16
He loves you...

I hope you all have a good evening and thanks so much for visiting and I look forward to your sweet notes..
God bless ...
Hugs..

Home Sweet Home...

Well, hello there dear hearts..
I am back!!
Thank the Lord, I am home safe and sound..
As you know I visited the lovely Lancaster County in Pa. for 8 days...
Many lovely experiences and a few very scary ones...
I thought I would share a few pics with you tonight and then I will not go on about it..
The first of my photos were lost on my camera card by mistake so here are a few of the ones that I took after we arrived there last Thursday after 2 days of travelling...
A few of the ones that I took of the dear Amish folks...

We visited several of the farms who were selling such things as quilts and fabrics, root beer and antiques, pickles and crafts..
That was one of my favorite things that we did..
We would pull into the farm yard and sweet little Amish children would come running to sell their wares..
They had names such as Jacob and Rachel...
All Bible names and they would come with the little brothers or sisters in wagons..
They would sometimes be weeding a garden or one told us they were picking over tobacco plants..
Their sweet smiles were so dear... smile..

All along the way we noticed the plants growing in the ditches..
Aren't these lovely?

They are not clover but a wild pea... I think..
Probably my friends from Pa. know what they are..
We loved them anyway..
We were blessed to meet up with friends from Toronto who took a tour bus and we drove around with them for a day...

We attended the wonderful Sight and Sound production of

JONAH...
It was my third production..
We had already seen IN THE BEGINNING and JOSEPH..
This one was awesome, also ...

We did a lot of shopping, of course..

I was blessed to find some lovely prims for my shop..

So much lavender growing.....

So beautiful..

Then, of course, the wonderful Amish farms on every side..

Every farm is in perfect order..
I could drive around for days just looking at them..

Then it was time to head for home..

We had a bit of sun but mostly cloudy or downright torrential rains..

We headed for the very foot of Mass. so that we could visit a former pastor's church..

It was so precious to visit with them and their church family.

Then we headed for Maine and last minute shopping.. smile..

The Lord was so gracious and protected us even during a flash flood that scared me half out of my wits... Seriously...
And there were even tornado warnings.. Yikes..
Thank you, Lord for your divine protection..

It is so good to be HOME..
There is no place on earth quite like it..
Beautiful places to be sure but dear old New Brunswick is the place for this old girl.. grin..

I hope you enjoyed my little visit with you all.
I missed you guys, too...

We will be busy getting moved down to the cottage during the next week..

Terry is going to cut wood tomorrow but we plan on starting the move this weekend and hoping to get the shop opened by the next weekend..

Thank you, my dears for your sweet visit..
I hope you leave me a note.. I love hearing from you all..

God bless...
