Working in the Sun Room..

Hello my dears.. 

Just a little post about the things I am preparing for the Craft Show on Saturday.. 

Terry has been working on our kitchen,.. (thank the Lord) 

Hunting season is over so he has been working away on varnishing and rehanging the doors.. 

The weather here in N. B. has been a bit Winter like, shall we say.. 

Cold and dull outside with a bit of snow..

So I turned up the heater, made a nice hot cup of coffee and got to it.. 

Cutting out circles of fabric...

Lots of tags and even ideas for serving... 

I used the little method of putting tags of kraft paper into milk and sticking them on.. So simple.. 

I wish I had known this method years ago.. 

This chore takes much longer then one would think.. 

Hopefully, it will help sell preserves.. 

Nice for Christmas gifts.. Perhaps??? 

Today was the third day preparing and making more stuff.. 

Today I made some Christmas Jam.. 

It is really good.. 

I will show that to you next time..

We had this soup today.. 

Carrot Cumin Soup

I love the spice cumin and loved this soup.. 

I even toasted a few cumin seeds to sprinkle on top.. 

Then back to work... 

Bottling up the vinegars.. 

Nasturtium, Tarragon and Elderberry..

I included a recipe to use them to make a salad dressing.. 

Elderberry Vinegar Salad Dressing.. 

So good for you, too.. 

Lots of strawberry jam.. 

The one I sell the most of.. 

Apple Jelly.. 

 And then I decided to make some bags to put preserves in to give away for gifts.. 

They are not quite finished yet ...

Keeping it cozy and apple tea..

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight.. 

It is certainly getting colder here in New Brunswick.. 

The other day people were out and about with just their sweaters and then today there were some mamas helping their kids build snowmen.. 

We just got rain though, thank heavens..

I am not a Winter person although I love the cozy evenings.. 

Lately I have been puttering away in the Sun Room and turning it into a more cozy niche for myself.. 

I decided to put my sewing stuff in a spare bedroom which has a window seat where I can store fabrics and such .. 

Since the room is bright it should make a good place to sew in.. 

It seems kind of pointless to have craft supplies upstairs while I have a workroom downstairs.. 

So it is all down there now.. 

I hope to make some Christmas gifts but I will make them down there..

Terry bought me a couple of parsons chairs and we brought up a small table from the cottage to put in the Sun Room.. 

When you all come for coffee now we will go in there.. smile.. 

My plants love this room, too.. 

Do you ladies ever grow bay plants? 

I am hoping this will last over the Winter and I will put it back out in the Spring.. 

We were to our little market that we like in Dieppe and bought some pears.. 

I put them in the dehydrator and will use them as decoration for Christmas gifts.. 

They look lovely with kraft paper and greenery.. 

We made THIS GARLAND AT KEEPERS..

The pepper plant that my friend gave me yielded a good harvest.. smile.. 

I have decided to dry them, too.. 

Terry was at a neighbors and had a delicious turkey sandwich. When he came home he wanted me to cook one.. 

It was in the freezer quite a while so it was good to get it cooked.. 

On Monday I made this apple tea to freeze for the holidays, too.. 

It is really easy to make.. 

Put your apple peels and cores in a pot and just cover with water.. 

Add a couple of cinnamon sticks, a few stars of anise, a teaspoon  of cloves and a few slices of fresh ginger and 2 Tablespoons of lemon juice.. 

Simmer this for 15 minutes or so and then strain.. 

I use a cheesecloth to strain it with.. 

Put it in bottles and freeze.. 

 To use put it in a crock pot and add enough honey to taste.. 

Or use it for a base for punch and add Sprite and such..

I just find it kind of bland and like mine spicy... 

Anyway, dear hearts this is all for tonight..

A Windy Day ...

Good Evening Everyone.. 

A very windy and cool day here in New Brunswick. 

I turned the fireplace on and spent a bit of time in the sun room.

Hence the photos.. smile.. 

This is where I sew and such.. 

There will not be any gardening here for a few more weeks so I am enjoying my plants.. 

I found a couple of lovely linen towels at the thrift store and made a couple of bread bags.. The orange striped one is in the pic above.. 

The lovely tea set is a gift from my Mom for my last birthday.. 

I have an old china cabinet in there that belonged to Terry's grandfather.. 

I like keeping his mother's dishes and any special keepsakes.. 

Like the old doll that used to belong to my friend Julia..

Looking forward to it.. 

Made some stir fry for supper tonight.. 

One of hubby's faves..

A Snowy Kinda Day..

A very snowy day here in Canada... 

I stayed home where it was nice and snug and did some tidying up..

The sun room was greatly in need of some rearranging.. 

Terry brought in our tree before the storm started and the house smells so Christmas like.. 

Kind of puts me in the mood.. (Thank heavens)  ...

Tomorrow..

 Lord willing I can get a bit of baking done although my living room still needs work.. sigh.. 

Oh well.. I am sure it will get done enough for Christmas to come.. smile..

I want to make an orange bread or two, a nut cake with icing, a new recipe for peppermint bark that looks lovely, a very special white sugar cookie recipe I found from years ago and.... 

Oh.. you get my drift.. 

What are you girls baking for Christmas? 

Did I mention some fruit bread?  Made with yeast.. 

I used to make it many moons ago and I think our older kids would remember it... 

One day when Dustin came home from school I had a batch of the sugar cookies and some homemade bread made.. 

He started telling his brother that we were rich.. grin.. 

Those were the days!!

I so loved them and miss them.. 

Anyway...
