Just a little catch-up....

This is the famous Petitcodiac River which is on the way to Hillsborough...
Sometimes it is referred to as the Chocolate River.. smile..

Well, hello everyone..

I have been away from the computer for awhile so I thought I would do a little catch-up post tonight..

We are in St. Martins at our summer cottage and it was a beautiful day..
I had been chatting to someone from home and they were saying how hot it was there but I had a sweater on.. smile..

The air here is so fresh and clean coming off the Bay of Fundy..
Whenever, I have to cut up veggies or such I sit on the deck so that I can enjoy the lovely breezes...

We have been going from pillar to post the last couple of weeks..

We were here for a few days and then went home for a beautiful wedding and up to the farm to mow the grass and spend a night and back home for a night or two and now we are back here..

Hopefully, the worst is over and we have successfully moved in for the Summer..

Here are a few catch-up pics for you..
Remember I mentioned that I made up a few jams and toiletries for the Apple Blossom Cafe in Hillsbough...
Well, we took a day and visited these dear sisters...

We had a grand time and they treated us to a lovely meal..

Terry had a BBQ Chicken Sandwich...
and

I had soup and salad, of course..
I always have soup and salad for some reason..
Anyway, it was Cream of Asparagus Soup and Salad with Maple Garlic Dressing which is a speciality of their's, I believe..
So delicious!!

We enjoyed the drive down the Petitcodiac River to Albert Co..
One of my favourite parts of our province..
I had bought a lovely Lavender Plant and it was ready to be harvested...

There is a nice bouquet ready for my linen cupboard...
I brought it down here for the deck and I think there is another bouquet ready..
Don't you love the scent?
Perhaps, it is an old woman thing but this old gal loves it almost as much as Patchouli.. grin..

Stopped at a Thrift Store the other day when we were home and found this wonderful Cast Iron Roaster..

It was only five dollars and I love the colour, too..

Some of the flowers in our garden here at the cottage..

We have been doing pots and pots...
Herbs, tomatoes, and lots of geraniums, of course..

Then one evening we had some sweet company...

Jared and one of his friends motored down for the evening and was lucky to meet up with his cousin, Matt and his friend Kayla...

Along with Shonda, Dave and their dog Ginger..
Carter was away to camp...

Then one evening we went for a drive...

St. Martins in the fog..

One of the drives that I love the most is down Duck Pond Road..
There are not many people and for some reason this place calls my name..
I could very easily live there..
I know.. I know..
Just forget that I said that..

Here is a new addition to the family..

Dustin's new puppy..
Mia....
So sweet..

Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
Hope you are enjoying your Summer where ever you may be or to my friends down under your Winter...
The season is literally flying by and it hard to believe that is half way through July ... eh?

Take care and thanks for dropping by and welcome to the new followers of the blog and the new Facebook friends..
I appreciate your support so much as I do your sweet comments...

God bless..

February days..

Hello to all of you..
How is everything going for you?

Just sharing a few pics tonight of our doings..

The Petitcodiac River yesterday..
The tide was in and the river was high..

It was a bleak and grey but we had a fun day..
Visited our youngest son and let them do a test on the baked donuts.. smile..

Made a wreath from fresh bay leaves..
It is to hang in the kitchen...

Enjoying my new coffee cup that was a gift from our daughter..
Love the humor.. eh?

We visited our little market and bought a bag of apples..

We did a bit of thrifting ..
I love old marmalade crocks and found 3 plus a tray for $4.00...
I have a plan for them which I will show you later..

I had some basil that needed using so I did a flavored salt..
It smells so fragrant when I open the jar..
All you have to do is put some kosher, sea or coarse salt in a jar then layer with whatever herb you prefer then a layer of salt then herbs and so on..
Just let it sit and test it every once in awhile..
Use it as you would regular salt..

Made a pie for supper tomorrow.. (Valentine's Day)
It is our favorite and I do not use much sugar..

Thank you everyone for taking time to drop by and leaving your wonderful comments..
You are all awesome and I appreciate your visits..

Have a wonderful day tomorrow..
What are you all planning for the special day?
Looking forward to hearing from you..

Peace...

I love a rainy day...

Hello my dears...

We woke up to a very rainy and windy day here this morning...
I think I would call it a Faye Henry kind of day.. smile..

You sweet ladies who read this blog know how I love the wind and rain...
I love going for a drive in it, too...
I convinced Terry to go to the city and do a bit of shopping..

This is a view that I always think is awesome and thought you might like to see it...

It is taken from the old Trans Canada Highway...

The river is the Petitcodiac...

Famous for it's Tidal Bore ...

Anyway, we went to Costco and a couple of thrift stores...
Then we stopped and picked up a parcel for our oldest son and visited our youngest one for a few minutes..
Mama made him some banana chocolate chip muffins.. smile..

Not a very good picture, I am afraid...

Anyway, it poured rain the whole time we were away...
We really need rain here in New Brunswick ... Our forest fire index is way up from last year...

On the way home I took this pic of a brook near Terry's childhood home..

I always love this little brook for some reason..
It is much fuller than usual...

We have carpets of these flowers..

My Mom always called these Adder's Tongues..
But some call them Dogtooth Violets..
I love wild flowers... Don't you?

Anyway, we got home in time to make supper..

Terry brought up one of the last few bottles of our homemade
Dill pickles...

Well, sweet friends, that is all for tonight..

Just another day.. A blessing from our dear Lord..

I feel thankful tonight..

Thankful for such a lovely day..
Driving in the rain together in our yellow Volkswagen and sipping away on a nice hot cup of coffee..
Rain on the windshield and chatting away...
Getting home and  Sammi meeting us at the door..

Do you know... it is rather nice being retired... smile..

Have an awesome evening everyone...
God bless...
