A Rainy Sunday and Spam..

Hello there dear hearts.. 

Hope you had a great weekend.. 

We had such a blessed day.. 

The presence of the Lord was so awesome in our services with such wonderful worship.. 

Very thankful for the blessings of God.. 

After church  we decided to go to the farm for Sunday Dinner.. smile.. 

This past week has been pretty rainy.. 

The brooks and rivers are overflowing their banks and the grass is so beautiful and green and the drive was so pretty.. 

I love to be at the farm on a rainy windy day.. 

It just whistles around the eves and the wood fire is so cozy.. 

I decided to dress the table with a tablecloth since it was Sunday..

  I found it at the thrift store along with the old plates and the little enamel pot that is just right for butter.. 

Lately, I am quite happy to find just two plates that are vintage or pretty.. 

Most of the time now we only need two now.. 

The meal was an old fashioned kind of dinner.. 

Steak with peppers, mushrooms and onions.. 

Mashed Potatoes and Buttered Carrots.. 

Tossed Salad..

Nothing fancy ... 

We didn't have dessert or bread today...smile..

See the little johnny jump ups.. 

Aunt Eva must have planted them many years ago.. 

They just keep spreading..

So sweet.. 

We had a very restful afternoon and then to church again this evening for another lovely service.. 

And then back home sweet home.. smile.. 

Keepers of the Home is once again on this coming Saturday morning..

A rainy day trip...

Hi all.. 

Want to come along for a drive in the country on a very rainy day?

By the time we returned home the evening sun appeared.. 

Beautiful Spring how I love thee.. 

Have a blessed Sabbath tomorrow..

That Kind of Day....

Hello everyone..

It was a rather rainy day here in Eastern Canada...

Terry and I headed to Sussex to pick up groceries and do a few errands... 

We bought a big bag of apples... 

And on a rainy afternoon what does one do with a few of them???

Well... you pick out 6 good sized ones... 

And peel them and then slice them... 

Put about 1 cup of sugar (more or less), 1/4 of a grated nutmeg, 1 tsp. of really good vanilla and about 1/3 of a cup of flour.. 

Mix well and place in a prepared pastry filled pie tin.. 

I used a 9 inch one..

Cover with another circle of pastry and brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar...( a wee tip from my Gram)... 

Bake in a 425 degrees F. for 15 minutes.. 

Lower heat to 375 degrees F. and bake for 35 minutes.. 

Then make a nice hot cup of tea with china loose tea and cut a piece for you each...

Enjoy... 

Well... we did... grin.. 

Pie is not very often on our menu plan..  

Let's just say it was good... very good.. 

Now for my lists ..... and such......

I love a rainy day...

Hello my dears... 

We woke up to a very rainy and windy day here this morning... 

I think I would call it a Faye Henry kind of day.. smile.. 

You sweet ladies who read this blog know how I love the wind and rain... 

I love going for a drive in it, too... 

 I convinced Terry to go to the city and do a bit of shopping.. 

This is a view that I always think is awesome and thought you might like to see it...

It is taken from the old Trans Canada Highway...

The river is the Petitcodiac...

Famous for it's Tidal Bore ...

WATCH THIS TO SEE IT... 

Anyway, we went to Costco and a couple of thrift stores... 

Then we stopped and picked up a parcel for our oldest son and visited our youngest one for a few minutes.. 

Mama made him some banana chocolate chip muffins.. smile.. 

Not a very good picture, I am afraid... 

Anyway, it poured rain the whole time we were away... 

We really need rain here in New Brunswick ... Our forest fire index is way up from last year... 

On the way home I took this pic of a brook near Terry's childhood home..

I always love this little brook for some reason.. 

It is much fuller than usual...

We have carpets of these flowers.. 

My Mom always called these Adder's Tongues..

 But some call them Dogtooth Violets.. 

I love wild flowers... Don't you?

Anyway, we got home in time to make supper.. 

Terry brought up one of the last few bottles of our homemade 

Dill pickles... 

Well, sweet friends, that is all for tonight.. 

Just another day.. A blessing from our dear Lord.. 

I feel thankful tonight.. 

Thankful for such a lovely day.. 

Driving in the rain together in our yellow Volkswagen and sipping away on a nice hot cup of coffee..

Rain on the windshield and chatting away...

Getting home and  Sammi meeting us at the door.. 

Do you know... it is rather nice being retired... smile..
