Lavender Salt Scrub Recipe for your Hands....

Good Morning Girls..

We have a lovely morning here in Eastern Canada.. The sun is shining and the snow is melting.  The bank of snow in front of our family room window is quickly reducing. 

I was telling Terry last night that I thought perhaps I was suffering from cabin fever.... He thought that I meant I needed to get out of the house.   I explained that it was not that but I am tired of snow...

Although, this year I have been striving to be happy with the season and enjoy it all. 

Life is SWEET.... eh? 

 We need to be so thankful for each breath and for our daily blessings. 

Yesterday I watched a video of 6 minutes over in Japan as water came flooding from a trickle to a flood..

Those dear people need our prayers as our hearts go out to them in this time of disaster

.

This morning with the sun shining and the smell of coffee brewing over on the counter I NEED to be THANKFUL  for such sweet everyday blessings. 
 What is a bit of snow laying around when I am have the blessings of good health and peace and my house is not drifting down a street of water..

I just needed to say that...

I made something yesterday that I thought you girls might enjoy. 

It is a Lavender Salt Scrub to put beside your kitchen sink...

I thought you might like the recipe for it. 

Gardening season is coming and this would be so nice to use.  Although, it is so lovely on your hands that you will want to use it all the time..

Here is the recipe..

LAVENDER SALT SCRUB FOR YOUR HANDS

1/2 cup of seasalt

1/3 cup almond oil or olive oil (I prefer almond oil)

1 teaspoon of liquid Vit. E

1 teaspoon aloe vera gel (opt.)

1 tablespoon of dried lavender blossoms

15 drops of lavender oil ( more or less)

In a small GLASS bowl mix everything except the salt.  When well blended add the salt and stir.  Cover and sit overnite..

Next day place in a pretty covered GLASS dish by your kitchen sink.. Use a couple of times a day..

If you have a cut it might sting...

*You may also add a bit of clear liquid hand soap to the mixture.

* If you do not like lavender just leave out the blossoms and change the oil to perhaps Ginger or Rosemary and add a bit of dried chopped Rosemary to the blend....

*Also, you can place the mixture in a lovely little bottle and add a tag in your gift pantry as a gift.

KEEPERS OF THE HOME MEETING...

Good Evening Everyone...

I thought that I would post tonight about our last Keepers of the Home meeting which we had this past Saturday morning...

We gathered together in the Fellowship Hall of our Church in Sussex.  The dear girls brought us all some Tim Hortons coffee.

That is the favorite Canadian kind...smile...

We began by cooking breakfast ...Some brought treats... Rice pudding, strawberries and coffee cake. 

We enjoy sitting aroung and just talking and making plans for awhile before we go into our lesson.

 

This week it was on Graciousness....

Our God is so gracious... Where would we be without His grace and mercy??  We need to choose daily to be gracious in all facets of our lives as wives and mamas...

His  JOY has made such a difference in our lives...

After the lesson we usually have some kind of activity.. 

Crafts, cooking or some homemaking type of fun... 

We enjoy learning some back to basics skills or craftwork.

This week the girls brought various wood pieces and we did some make overs. 

There were shelves, plaques, trays and signs. 

Everyone seemed to like the color black.... smile...

The word "Faith" found it's way on some pieces...

The girls were also busy hosting a baby shower in the afternoon after Keepers for Baby Emily...

Isn't she precious?  Her Mama is one of the Keepers...

It was a lovely shower and Emily received many gifts.. 

God is so good to us.. so faithful...

Motherhood has been named His Highest Calling..

Also ... Terry and I wanted to thank you sweet Keepers for the lovely gift.. You are all so thoughtful..

We will be using your lovely gift for our Date Night very soon.

Her name was Elaine and she was such a dear sweet person..

Skor Bars and a Water Bottle Cozy..

HAPPY WEEKEND.....

I wanted to post you a little weekend recipe...

I adore sweets but dare not make them often as Terry nor I should have them.. But when I do.....smile...

This is a favorite..

SKORR BARS

3/4 cup white sugar  (I use splenda)

3/4 cup margarine

1 1/2 cups flour

1 can Eagle Brand Condensed Milk

2 T. butter

1 x pkg. chocolate chips

1 x pkg. skorr bar chippits

Mix first 3 ingredients together and press into a 9 x 13 inch greased pan.  Bake 8 - 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Heat milk and butter in a pan on stove for 10 minutes.. STIR CONSTANTLY.. (burns very easily)

Spread over base and bake for 10 minutes in oven at same 350 degrees.

Remove and sprinkle chocolate chips over top and cook for 2 more minutes.  Remove and spread with a knife and then sprinkle skor bits on the top.

The recipe says to keep in the fridge.  Serve at room tempature.

There they are in all their glory...haha...

I also thought I would show you a little craft that I made for a friend of mine...

Many years ago I used to crochet... I could not follow a pattern except for a few throws that Terry's Mom (bless her heart) would show me how to make..

But for some reason I could crochet somethings just by crocheting... lol.. (if you know what I mean)

Anyway... One of my goals this Winter was to pick it up again.

So... I have been crocheting apple cozies and water bottle cozies ...

Taaa Daaah..... A water bottle cozy for Nancy..

She likes my odd ball crafts....

I have forgotten how to crochet a straight line but with my cousin Val's advice over the phone I am relearning....

As of right now I can only go in a circle....

Yes... I had a craft business for over 20 years but it was glue gun all the way....lol..

This weekend is kind of a busy one here.  We have Keepers of the Home tomorrow morning in our Fellowship Hall in Sussex.  We will be having breakfast together and a lesson and then learning how to make over a bit of wood... such as a shelf or magazine rack... We will probably turn out a few prim pieces...

A good time of fellowship for everyone.

Then in the afternoon there is a baby shower for our newest Keeper baby... Emily....

Also our daughter and family fly out to Florida so please keep them in your prayers... Thank you..

And then Sunday is the Lord's Day...

WHEN YOU LOVE HIM ...

Hello my dear friends.. 

 Looking out the window at another snowy day here had me wondering when Spring will be coming around. 

I had brought home some geraniums from the cottage last summer and I am ashamed to say that I did not get them repotted. 

They have been hanging around on a door knob with just a drop of water every once in awhile... 

Anyway.. today was their big day.  lol.. 

While in the sunroom I noticed this old saying that I had also brought home to reframe... 

This is one of the dearest little poems I have read. 

There is also so much truth in it whether we as wives want to admit it or not... smile...

I had it on the fireplace mantel at the cottage a year or so ago.

One of my sweet friends (a kindred spirit in soooo many ways)

had come with her husband for a visit. 

Her name is Deanna... 

 Anyway... she was sitting on the couch with her hubby when I passed this to her to read...

  

She proceeded to read it and she and I started laughing...

Well, the more she read it the more we laughed until our husbands wanted to hear what she was reading.

She read it to them  and they just looked at each other..

Needless to say we were by then almost hysterical..

Even now I still laugh to myself when I picture them looking blankly at each other...

Like.. What is so funny about that?

I guess it takes a woman to understand.... eh?

Forgive me... I think the snow is finally getting to my brain...lol..

Here are the geraniums all repotted...

Just imagine them blooming in a few weeks... They will be lovely on the deck or some such place.

I love the blue but it is hard to find...

No-Knead Cinnamon and Raisin Bread Recipe.. Easy..

HAPPY MONDAY MORNING ...

Here we are again at the beginning of another week and going  into one of my favorite months.  Our anniversary is at the end of March....41 years... Imagine.

When we were younger and Terry's parents had celebrated their fortith one I thought that we would be years away from it and that his parents were OLD:)

Well....HELLO... here we are and past it now...

I am so thankful to God for the many years we have had together.

This past week in Psalms I was reading where we are to thank God for his KINDESS in the MORNING and to PRAISE Him for his FAITHFULNESS in the EVENING...

Did you ever notice that verse before... I probably read it often but it didn't sink in.. Anyway... I think it was in Psalms..

And so this morning I thank Him for the kindness of the many years we have had together..

I said all that to end up by giving you a recipe that is my husband's

favorite all time BREAD RECIPE.. 

NO KNEAD CINNAMON RAISIN BREAD...

1 package active dry yeast

1 1/2 cups of warm water (105 -115 degrees)

1 tsp. sugar

2 Tablespoons honey

2 Tablespoons butter

1 teaspoon salt

3 cups flour. divided

1 Tablespoon cinnamon

1 cup raisins

In a large bowl dissolve yeast in the warm water and add sugar and honey and stir.  Add butter, salt and 2 cups flour...

Beat with electric mixer on LOW until blended..

Beat on high speed  for one minute..

Stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon.

Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size...

Punch down by stirring with a heavy spoon.  Stir in raisins and cinnamon.  Spoon batter into a loaf pan.  Let rist again until batter reaches the top of the pan.. (I forgot and let it rise higher)

Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for forty minutes or until when tapped it sounds hollow...Cool on wire rack..

This batter bread is a wonderful treat for breakfast or in "munchkin's " lunch sack as peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches..

This recipe came from Alaska....

If you get a chance to try this you will find it very easy and very tasty..

Now just a quick shot up how much SNOW was outside my KITCHEN window on Friday morning...

That is the curtain at the top and than the sky and then that is SNOW... You have to see it to believe it..

Acutally, Terry shovelled snow from the roof onto the patio but the last storm doubled the height of the snow..

GREAT TO BE CANADIAN, EH?  lol..

A Country Bedroom Fix-up....

Hello...
 Here I am with some of the pics that I had promised in the last posting of the little fix-up of our master bedroom...

As I had told you it would only be a little redoing that and would not cost very much.

Actually... I only spent $30.00 for the bedcoverings, $5.00 for the bookshelf and $15.00 for a couple of old prints that I really liked... So.. in all $50.00....

Pretty frugal, eh?  Terry thought so anyway.. smile.. The coverings were such a great buy.. Thank you, Lord...

So.. my dears lets go in and see the changes..

 

A few years ago Terry changed our flooring from carpet to this pine one.. I love it and it was so frugal to do.. He just laid pine boards then stained and sealed it...

The walls were still okay but I did need new bed coverings....

I had picked this up at Walmart for only $30.00 last year and was so happy to get such a bargain.. It is a king size too. The bed is only queen but where Terry built such a high base it needed a king size to hang right.

I made up some cushions and changed the angel to this Annie that I finished up last week..

I also took down the old swag over the headboard print and replaced it with a berry star sprig..

I still like the curtains, too. I topped them with some old crochet valances..

I changed the rocker cushions and added another old Raggs doll that I had made.

The candolier above I had picked up at a thrift store for a few dollars so I added different candles and an old prim cat that I already had.

Also.. I finally got the little bookshelf painted for some of my books..

Here is the quilt cupboard that my sweet husband made out of an old wardrobe.. We had painted it this mustard color and stained it..I changed the handles to wood ones that I painted black then kind of antiqued the cupboard with some dry brushed black paint.. Then I added the light garland.. That is just a set of mini lights with 3 inch rags tied a bit apart.. An easy and fast touch ....

On top I added a bird house and crow that Shonda had given me for gifts...

I love prim crafts but what ever is your own thing.

There... that is the most of it..

Nothing major just a few touches to welcome Spring...

A Frugal Country Bedroom Fix-up..

Hello my dears...

Good Morning to you .. Just wanted to share my weekend project with you all..

I love our bedroom... Oh.. there are bigger and better but this one is ours and it is one of my favorite rooms here at home.

HOWEVER, it needs a little fixing up.. Kinda stuck in the the same rut for a few years so yesterday and today I am striving to give it a facelift.  A frugal one....lol...

Here is what it looks like before I started working on it yesterday.. I guess you could call it the BEFORE pic...

Remember I am not doing major reno... just a bit of tweaking...lol

I still love the paint and the border that Shonda (our daughter) did a while ago...She stamped on the border with 3 square sponges..And it only took her a couple of hours.. The DEAR girl...

The candle chandolier needs a little tweaking as does the old rocker.. 

And some new or different bed coverings..

 It is a water bed as I had mentioned before..Remember? 

Terry built a base for it so it quite high.. I love it.. But it requires king size bedding..

This is an old wardrobe that Terry redid for a quilt cupboard.. I love the country look but I think this needs another coat of antiquing and redone some to look more prim..

I am not sure what to do with it..

New drawer pulls and knobs...

Right?  We shall see...

A small corner wall that I love and  won't change..

It is a sweet reminder that I wake up to each day..

But some other wall changes are needed...

Then...

Perhaps change some chairs around..

I did not take any more pics of the dressers and such for now..

Anyway... this is what I am working on and you can check back on Monday or Tuesday to see how I make out... ok?

Hopefully, I  will complete my weekend project..

With that in mind I did a little surfing the web and found some inspiration the other day..

I love the bookshelves which I need ... I picked an old one up at the thrift the other day... It is only small but I want to paint it and fill with books.. I have books everywhere..

Do you girls have a lot of books?

My mother has one... maybe she is tired of it, eh?  lol...

No.. I don't  have room...

But this time I am just wanted to give it a bit of a facelift and am on my own.. smile.. 

Our bedrooms should be sweet and cozy and clean, of course.

Now I must confess that if there is any room in the house that needs constant attention it is OUR ROOM...

I was wondering why that was as I am dusting down the spider webs and picking up books and stuff..

Then it came to me... This is a room that I live in... I use it a lot..

Not only for sleeping but relaxing in.. 

Therefore, I need to give it more attention in the future.. So if I get it all spiffed up I will be more motivated.... smile...

I hope so anyway.. 

I wanted to thank all you sweet ones for commenting on my last posting.. I appreciated it.. And I called my Mom and read them all to her.. She really enjoyed that so thank you so much.
