A little Fall Field Trip to the Cottage...

Good evening everyone..
Here it is Saturday night.. Terry and I went down to the cottage to finish closing it up.. It was a lovely very cool Fall day..
The leaves are almost gone here in Eastern Canada.. But the Bay of Fundy is beautiful in all of her glory..
Here we are at the top of Birch Hill Mountain just a little distance from St. Martins..
Can you see the Bay there in the distance?

Here it is at the end of our street where our cottage is..
The tide is on its way in...
Well, we have to go to the cottage and do some work..

It looks pretty bare down there compared to the Summer ones that I took, eh?
All the Summer folks have gone home...

I need to pick a bit of my comfrey to make some salves for later.. There is some left...
I also picked some oregano, parsley, and sage..I may as well take it home as it will soon freeze..

It took several hours to do everything..
We had to finish cleaning out the fridge, putting all the planters and such away..
We also had to go to the shop and put up drapes and bring home a few more things..

Here is the man I married 41 years ago..smile...

Before we head for home we always head down to the harbour..

The tide is in by now..
The fishermen are gathering up their traps..

The sun is starting to go down ...
Gorgeous, eh?

Well, we need to head back home..

Back up over the mountain...

Here is a lake that is up there..

It is lovely and calm today..

A pasture with cows..

The beautiful fall colours are almost gone..

New Brunswick is dotted with covered bridges..
We saw 4 covered bridges today..

Boy, we are hungry.. All we had today was a sandwich for breakfast..

What do you want for supper, dear?
He never really cares.. Just whatever.. He hopes it is quick, though.. smile..

How about some meatballs left over from yesterday and some fresh picked Oregano
Roasted Potatoes and some homemade pickles?
Sure... grin..
It tasted good to these two hungry people.. smile..

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day..
Looking forward to worshiping Him...

Thank you sweet ladies for checking in..
I know I always tell you how much I delight in hearing from you all.. But I do..

Hugs from this little part of the world..

House of Henry Open House... first day over....

Happy Labour Day weekend, everyone..
It has been a very busy and hectic week around here.. I hope you noticed that I have not been blogging very much..smile..
I hope to get back at it next week..
My first day of Open House is over, thank you sweet Lord..
Now, I can relax and enjoy the rest of it.. It is all set up and all I have to do is to add to it as I get something finished or dug out..
There were a lot of people.. old and new customers and friends..
Here are a few pics of the shop..
Outside...

Some fall bears....

An olde mouse and an olde book.. I decided to make a craft out of the two of them..
This would look neat on a table somewhere...

Preserves sold like crazy today..
My best seller is still the Sweet Dills...
And I must say that the  recipe that I concocted with ginger and cukes is a next best... smile..

Stovetop Potpourrie in book pages..
I know I showed these before but I make them every time...

Sold the wind chime ...
Some wreaths .....

And a primitive poe chair...

Another wreath..
Outside sales.. smile.. Only the chair and birdhouse left...

I could have sold these if I had of wanted to but I had only stuck them together..
No glue or anything... Perhaps, next time...
I saw the idea on the web last year...

Sage and pansies just a bloomin'..

And my best seller of the day was the Lavender Fresheners...
So glad I made so many..
Salves sold really well, too..

Well, my dears that is all I can come up with for tonight..
It was good to see friends from home and thank you so much for all the sweet offers of help.. You Keepers of the Home are awesome.. Thanks .... I know you mean it, too...

And thank you  for dropping by.. I hope to get back in the groove soon .. I have some wonderful new ideas for you all..
Just as soon as I get a minute..
Fall is coming and now is the time to prepare for .............   smile.. I can't say the word or even type it.. I so love Summer and will even stamp my feet and cry to keep it here but to no avail...
Fall is in the air and I may as well accept it although the good part is that I will soon be back home..
Thank you, Jesus...
We love it here at the cottage but we also love to be home..
No place like it...

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day...
Keep trusting in Him...
He is precious...

Thanks for the lovely visit and I wait to hear from you..
Hugs..

The waves after the storm....

Good Evening everyone..
Tonight is just a posting of pics for you to see of the Bay of Fundy after the hurricane... The winds howled throught the night and then we woke up to a lovely sunny day..
The winds were still strong but the Bay was simply beautiful!!
In our many summers here this is the best waves we have seen..
Not that there have not been better but we did not actually see them..
I am busy getting ready for my open house at the shop but wanted to take the time to show you these..

The above pic is showing the amazing height of the spray..
That is a very high cliff and the spray is higher than the trees..
Awesome..

The tide is on it's way back out up above but you can see where it was right across the road...

They had to get heavy equipment out to push it all back..

May as well go home now.. The streets were lined with cars and it seemed as if the whole village had turned out to see the action..
Well worth the bother.. smile..
I just wish I could take better pics but at least you get an idea of what it was like.. smile..
Have a blessed week dear friends..
Catch you all later..
God bless...

Sunday Night Blessings...

Hello everyone..
Surprise.. surprise I am posting on a Sunday evening..
We are generally in church and I seldom am on the computer much on a Sunday but tonight we are having a car problem and had to stay home..
I intensely  dislike car problems.. mine or anyone else's.. If we are driving by someone and their car is parked on the side of the road I always say a wee prayer for them that their car will be easily fixed.. smile...
We had just left church this morning and the car was making a weird sound.. Oh no... Now what?  Aren't we so predictable?
We always panic before we even know what is wrong.. OK.. I.. always panic... grin..
Terry said that sounds like a wheel baring..
Well, to make a long story short... He went and bought the part at Canadian Tire store but he has to go home where the tools are to fix it.. So for tonight we are here at the cottage..
And so...
I thought I would show you another wee scenic pic here in the village of St. Martins..
One of two covered bridges ..

Beautiful, eh?
This pic is the same street going the other way..

This takes us back to the cottage and past the harbour..
Home to a Sunday night Supper..
Delicious Mussels cooked in garlic, onion and chicken broth..

Some toasted bread rubbed with garlic to sop up the juices..
And then a bowl of hodge podge with our new green beans that Terry picked at home and brought down..
Then later some blueberry ice cream..
Yup... the diet starts tomorrow.. grin...

Anyway..
My Open House for the shop is coming right up in a couple of weeks at the House of Henry here in St. Martins, N. B.
I am planning it for the Labour Day Weekend so that I can go home earlier this year..smile.. There is no place like home..

With that in mind I am making plans galore and hoping to get much accomplished in the next few weeks.. With the help of the Lord...
Guess what I am planning on making with these..

Lovely Rose petals that my sweet husband picked for me..
And these...

Pearly Everlastings that are in bloom here right now..
And lots of these...

Rose hips to ripen and dry...
And of course... Oranges...
They need to be sliced and put in the dehydrator...
Did you guess?
Right... Homemade Potpourris..
Cinnamon Orange .. my best seller..
Pumpkin Spice...Crows in the Apple Trees, Blueberry Fields and the Sandalwood is all made...

Then there are lots of these done but much more to make..

Dill....
Sweet garlic dills and Garlic Dills and ..
Sandwich Dill Slices...

Did I mention that Terry has cut me out a bunch of different wood pieces that need painted and primmed up...

Along with homemade salves, deodorants,  foot powders, hand salt scrubs, healing balms, and more..

Several old tables, cupboards and stands to be painted and distressed... grin..

Oh, I hope I get some prim sewing done..
Yeah.. I know.. I am crazy..
Hope you will all plan to come out and see for yourselves...
You can have some Hot Apple Cider and  try some pickles and sniff the potpourris... OK?

Now I am including a pic of something that I hope to do a post on tomorrow or soon anyway..
A flower that grows rampid here in Eastern Canada and a lot of North America...
TANSY
It is a wonderful herb that is free and has so many uses..
I know you probably get tired of me talking about herbs but they are so good for you.. God planned on us using them... He gave them to us for our health.. Come back and check it out.. OK?
I wanted to mention before I go about all the wonderful customers and friends that we had at the shop this past week..
It was so good to see some friends that we had not seen for ages..
God has so blessed us with friends.. It was lovely to see you all and the new girls that came in and told me they read my blog..
So sweet... Thank you...
Well, dear ladies that is all for tonight..
I hope you stop by again and thank you so much for your comments last posting and such dear emails...
Blessings to you all.. Remembering you all in prayer...

MAKE YOUR WAYS KNOWN TO ME, O LORD,
AND TEACH ME YOUR PATHS.
LEAD ME IN YOUR TRUTH AND TEACH ME
BECAUSE YOU ARE GOD, MY SAVIOR.
I WAIT ALL DAY LONG FOR YOU.
PSALMS 25 - 4 - 5..

An olde Country Inn...

Happy Tuesday Evening my dears..
I thought I would share my day with you all...
My friend who has a cottage on the beach at the end of our street called and invited me to lunch...
Yesterday when she was visiting me at the shop the owner's daughter of our local Castle (the St. Martins Country Inn)  as the St. Martins residents always refer to it was in shopping.. She extended an invite to us to go up for lunch..
We literally took her at her word and up we went..
Oh joy!!  It was so lovely!!
Michele whose Mom and Dad had bought and restored this beautiful old home into one of the finest inns around was just so kind to us...
She gave us a tour and then created and served us the most wonderful lunch..
I hope I am not going overboard but honestly we had a great time and were so happy we had gone..
Michele let me take some pics for you all...
Here goes...
I did take this pic off of the web but isn't it gorgeous?
It is sometimes referred to as the PRINCE OF TIDES ..
Imagine a Vaughan family used to live here...
They were shipbuilders and built this in 1857..
Back in St. Martin's glory days  when this was a shipbuilding town...

The upstairs  window...

and the hallway...

The bedrooms are beautiful and spotless..
Michele's Mom had such great taste in decorating this old beauty...

The views from the windows in all directions are breathtaking..
See our Bay of Fundy?

Every bed is an antique!!

A sneak pic of Michele... smile..
She is lovely, too..

Some bedrooms have little patios and they all have their own bathrooms..

Some have huge fancy tubs and I think they all have their own fireplace...

This is the old schoolroom.. See the sweet closet..
Just like it always was...
Can you imagine the children and their nanny and governess busy in this place?

The front foyer...

I lost count of the fireplaces..
There are 12 bedrooms in the Main House and the prices are so reasonable...

Extra large dining rooms..
Perfect...

This is the breakfast and lunch room..
Done  in blues and yellows..
There is Carolyn waiting for me..
I am coming, my friend...

This is the view from the table where we were sitting..
One of Michele's Mom's gardens...

Here is my lunch...
Red Pepper soup and Beef Dip..
I had not had either before and loved every bite..

Carolyn's fish chowder..
She said it was the best in town.. smile..
Didn't you, Carolyn?
I tasted it and it was divine...

Carolyn will be annoyed with me for putting her pic on here and so I will put mine too..
If I looked as cute as she does I would paste my picture all over .. grin..

Oh well...

After we came home there was a huge storm..
The waves were wild as was the wind and rain..

I spent too much time looking out at it all..
Oh.. sweet summer...

Thank you dear friends for stopping by..
I did accomplish a little work here today, too..
A fresh batch of gardeners salve and some other stuff..
Had 2 cars of company, also...
Sweet visits..

One more pic.. grin..

Even the goats want to come to St. Martins... grin..
God love them..

Take care and God bless...
