House of Henry Open House... first day over....

Happy Labour Day weekend, everyone..
It has been a very busy and hectic week around here.. I hope you noticed that I have not been blogging very much..smile..
I hope to get back at it next week..
My first day of Open House is over, thank you sweet Lord..
Now, I can relax and enjoy the rest of it.. It is all set up and all I have to do is to add to it as I get something finished or dug out..
There were a lot of people.. old and new customers and friends..
Here are a few pics of the shop..
Outside...

Some fall bears....

An olde mouse and an olde book.. I decided to make a craft out of the two of them..
This would look neat on a table somewhere...

Preserves sold like crazy today..
My best seller is still the Sweet Dills...
And I must say that the  recipe that I concocted with ginger and cukes is a next best... smile..

Stovetop Potpourrie in book pages..
I know I showed these before but I make them every time...

Sold the wind chime ...
Some wreaths .....

And a primitive poe chair...

Another wreath..
Outside sales.. smile.. Only the chair and birdhouse left...

I could have sold these if I had of wanted to but I had only stuck them together..
No glue or anything... Perhaps, next time...
I saw the idea on the web last year...

Sage and pansies just a bloomin'..

And my best seller of the day was the Lavender Fresheners...
So glad I made so many..
Salves sold really well, too..

Well, my dears that is all I can come up with for tonight..
It was good to see friends from home and thank you so much for all the sweet offers of help.. You Keepers of the Home are awesome.. Thanks .... I know you mean it, too...

And thank you  for dropping by.. I hope to get back in the groove soon .. I have some wonderful new ideas for you all..
Just as soon as I get a minute..
Fall is coming and now is the time to prepare for .............   smile.. I can't say the word or even type it.. I so love Summer and will even stamp my feet and cry to keep it here but to no avail...
Fall is in the air and I may as well accept it although the good part is that I will soon be back home..
Thank you, Jesus...
We love it here at the cottage but we also love to be home..
No place like it...

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day...
Keep trusting in Him...
He is precious...

Thanks for the lovely visit and I wait to hear from you..
Hugs..

A Sunday Night Posting...

Good Sunday Evening to you all..
My, I just walked down to the beach and I could not believe my ears... Although, the waves are not huge they are the loudest that I can remember hearing them.. We are supposed to get the worst of the storm around midnight..
It is dark  here but cars are very busy driving down to the beach to see what's happening.. The hurricane is supposed to only be a tropical storm here but the winds are to gust up to 100 klicks.. Not too bad considering what the coast of the U. S. had ..

Anyway, enough about that..
This weekend was very busy... I had the shop open yesterday and then came home and did pickles until almost midnight..

Terry had bought a ton of cukes (well, not a ton)  but he worked all afternoon chopping and cutting.. Bless his dear heart.. I am so glad that they are finished..
Thank you, Lord...
This morning Terry had to go to Moncton for work so I went with him so that I could visit with our youngest son.. I have not seen him for awhile so needless to say I had a lovely time..
We needed to check on our house and make sure all was secure there, too..
Anyway, when we got back here to the cottage there was a lovely gift tucked away by the back door for me...

Such a beautiful bouquet... Sitting in a bottle of water and just waiting for me to get home..
Basil... So fragrant and so delicious..
My sweet friend Anna who is in the Farmers Market here in St. Martins brought it down .. Thank you, dear..
It goes so well with these..

Terry grew a lot of tomatoes.. I have made several batches of Chow Chow.. Do you girls make that?  I use my Gram Weston's recipe and it is delicious..
I am sorry but my dear Mom does not share her recipe as quickly as I do.. grin..
But you can always find one on the web..

For our supper I used Anna's basil and made this..
Pasta with pesto.. This picture is from

I also had another wonderful experience today..
A friend of ours showed us through their old homestead..
For me it was love  at first sight.. I so loved the old farmhouse.
There were nooks and crannies everywhere.. The most wonderful little library closet built under the stairs with a window in it:-)
Can you imagine?  I have never seen one before.. What a wonderful way to use that area under a stairwell.. Then the pantry... It was so lovely.. His Mom's old pickle pots were hanging on the wall and there was a window and lots of beautiful old shelves... It was as big as some kitchens and was filled with such glorious antiques...
Then the wood room was right out of the 1800's... I told him it looked just like Kings Landing.. (That is a place I need to go to once a year and get my fix... grin.. As soon as the shop is closed we will probably go and visit... An old village that is just like it was many years ago..)
Anyway, the wood work in that house is awesome and the bedrooms and laundry room.. I would hardly change a thing in it if I lived there.. When I said that to my darlin he informed me that everyone is not like me... sigh... I guess he is right... smile..

I am just rambling on here again tonight, girls.. Sorry...
It has been an odd day.. Although, it was the Lord's Day it did not seem like it since we did not get to church..
We needed to go home, though.. My sweet uncle passed away this morning.. He was my Dad's brother and he was a wonderful dear man.. So kind and he always had time for me ever since I was wee..
I could not pronounce his name and called him Ankie...
I will miss him... As I told my Mom.. I do not like to see them go.. My Dad's brothers are almost all gone.. Only 2 left..
The Lord has blessed me with such a sweet and large family..

Isn't Jesus just the greatest?
Today when we were going home it was just pouring rain..
Terry had to work changing trucks  (a whole lot of tools and such )
for an hour or two and had not even brought a coat.. As we were getting closer to Moncton I prayed and ask Him to just let it stop raining until Terry was finished.. He is diabetic and I didn't want him getting soaked through and catching cold.. Anyway, the Lord answered prayer.. It mostly stopped raining when we got to Dustin's place and when Terry came back from work he was not a bit wet... smile.. Isn't that just like God.. Some folks would say that was crazy but as for me I will give Him glory and thanks...
He really does care about the small things in our lives..

Well, sweet ladies I hope I have not bored you with all these words.. I am in for a busy week so may not get too much chance to chat.. But who knows.. I will try and let you know what I am working at.. We need to go back home though for my uncle and all..  The shop is closed this week as I try and get things ready for Saturday...
At least the pickles are made..
I still need to renew my stock of salves and toiletries and I bought a lovely bunch of crows to make some Fall wreaths with..
I also made some owls that need to be tea dyed..
And here is a wee cocoa set...
Sweet, eh?
Take care my loves and keep me in your prayers...
Thanks so much for your visit and comments and welcome to the lovely new followers...
So many sweet friends.. I appreciate you all..
God bless...

Sunday Night Blessings...

Hello everyone..
Surprise.. surprise I am posting on a Sunday evening..
We are generally in church and I seldom am on the computer much on a Sunday but tonight we are having a car problem and had to stay home..
I intensely  dislike car problems.. mine or anyone else's.. If we are driving by someone and their car is parked on the side of the road I always say a wee prayer for them that their car will be easily fixed.. smile...
We had just left church this morning and the car was making a weird sound.. Oh no... Now what?  Aren't we so predictable?
We always panic before we even know what is wrong.. OK.. I.. always panic... grin..
Terry said that sounds like a wheel baring..
Well, to make a long story short... He went and bought the part at Canadian Tire store but he has to go home where the tools are to fix it.. So for tonight we are here at the cottage..
And so...
I thought I would show you another wee scenic pic here in the village of St. Martins..
One of two covered bridges ..

Beautiful, eh?
This pic is the same street going the other way..

This takes us back to the cottage and past the harbour..
Home to a Sunday night Supper..
Delicious Mussels cooked in garlic, onion and chicken broth..

Some toasted bread rubbed with garlic to sop up the juices..
And then a bowl of hodge podge with our new green beans that Terry picked at home and brought down..
Then later some blueberry ice cream..
Yup... the diet starts tomorrow.. grin...

Anyway..
My Open House for the shop is coming right up in a couple of weeks at the House of Henry here in St. Martins, N. B.
I am planning it for the Labour Day Weekend so that I can go home earlier this year..smile.. There is no place like home..

With that in mind I am making plans galore and hoping to get much accomplished in the next few weeks.. With the help of the Lord...
Guess what I am planning on making with these..

Lovely Rose petals that my sweet husband picked for me..
And these...

Pearly Everlastings that are in bloom here right now..
And lots of these...

Rose hips to ripen and dry...
And of course... Oranges...
They need to be sliced and put in the dehydrator...
Did you guess?
Right... Homemade Potpourris..
Cinnamon Orange .. my best seller..
Pumpkin Spice...Crows in the Apple Trees, Blueberry Fields and the Sandalwood is all made...

Then there are lots of these done but much more to make..

Dill....
Sweet garlic dills and Garlic Dills and ..
Sandwich Dill Slices...

Did I mention that Terry has cut me out a bunch of different wood pieces that need painted and primmed up...

Along with homemade salves, deodorants,  foot powders, hand salt scrubs, healing balms, and more..

Several old tables, cupboards and stands to be painted and distressed... grin..

Oh, I hope I get some prim sewing done..
Yeah.. I know.. I am crazy..
Hope you will all plan to come out and see for yourselves...
You can have some Hot Apple Cider and  try some pickles and sniff the potpourris... OK?

Now I am including a pic of something that I hope to do a post on tomorrow or soon anyway..
A flower that grows rampid here in Eastern Canada and a lot of North America...
TANSY
It is a wonderful herb that is free and has so many uses..
I know you probably get tired of me talking about herbs but they are so good for you.. God planned on us using them... He gave them to us for our health.. Come back and check it out.. OK?
I wanted to mention before I go about all the wonderful customers and friends that we had at the shop this past week..
It was so good to see some friends that we had not seen for ages..
God has so blessed us with friends.. It was lovely to see you all and the new girls that came in and told me they read my blog..
So sweet... Thank you...
Well, dear ladies that is all for tonight..
I hope you stop by again and thank you so much for your comments last posting and such dear emails...
Blessings to you all.. Remembering you all in prayer...

MAKE YOUR WAYS KNOWN TO ME, O LORD,
AND TEACH ME YOUR PATHS.
LEAD ME IN YOUR TRUTH AND TEACH ME
BECAUSE YOU ARE GOD, MY SAVIOR.
I WAIT ALL DAY LONG FOR YOU.
