Hello everyone..
It was a rather rainy day here in Eastern Canada...
Terry and I headed to Sussex to pick up groceries and do a few errands...
We bought a big bag of apples...
And on a rainy afternoon what does one do with a few of them???
Well... you pick out 6 good sized ones...
And peel them and then slice them...
Put about 1 cup of sugar (more or less), 1/4 of a grated nutmeg, 1 tsp. of really good vanilla and about 1/3 of a cup of flour..
Mix well and place in a prepared pastry filled pie tin..
I used a 9 inch one..
Cover with another circle of pastry and brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar...( a wee tip from my Gram)...
Bake in a 425 degrees F. for 15 minutes..
Lower heat to 375 degrees F. and bake for 35 minutes..
Then make a nice hot cup of tea with china loose tea and cut a piece for you each...
Enjoy...
Well... we did... grin..
Pie is not very often on our menu plan..
Let's just say it was good... very good..
Now for my lists ..... and such......
The new Country Living UK is in...
smile..
Hope you are all having an awesome weekend wherever you may be...
Tomorrow is the Lord's Day...
Have a blessed one..
Hugs..
Hi Faye, your apple pie looks so delicious. I'm not a big pie eater so one piece would do me. It was a nasty day here wasn't it? Murray and I went into town late afternoon for a few errands and the roads were really wet. Dangerously so. It's good to be in for the evening. Have a blessed Lord's day.
ReplyDeleteI am not a pie lover either, Pam.. Except for apple.. Once in awhile..
DeleteYes, we had lots of rain and again today..
Blessings, my friend..xo
What a scrumptious apple pie. I do enjoy loose teas every now and again. Have a beautiful week. xo
ReplyDeleteYes, loose tea is so tasty.. My sweet friend gave me a new teapot.. I must show you next time.. xo

ReplyDeleteBlessings and a wonderful Lord's Day to you as well!
Heather
Thanks for visiting, Heather.. Loved having you.. xo
DeleteWell Faye,, you sure know how to make a lady drool. I can almost taste that pie. But I would have mine with a fresh cup of coffee. Might just have to bake us up one after service tomorrow. We are suppose to get rain over the next 2 days. I am so looking forward to cooler temps and the sound of rain. Have a blessed Sunday

Yes, you must love for the Fall to come.. We have had great weather and I do not like Winter.. Fall is nice, though..xo
DeleteThat pie sure looks good.
ReplyDeleteSorry I have not been around in a while. Moving and not having internet for a month will do that. lol
Have a wonderful weekend, Faye.
Take care, Janet W
Hi Janet.. I have not been very good at blogging either.. Sorry about that.. Great to chat with you again.. xo
DeleteI made an apple pie today, too. I've never put a top crust on mine though if I did, I would do the milk wash and sugar as well. I've eaten it that way and it is delish.
ReplyDeleteI never have enough crust leftover for a top - as I'm always filling up the other 2-3 crusts with something else. I made a (the best!)Pecan Pie and a Kentucky Hot Brown Tart today with the rest of my crusts. Both recipes are on my blog - somewhere. Lol!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Great minds think alike, Bevy.. grin.. Your pies sound awesome and southern.. smile..xo
DeleteWe haven't had a rainy day for so long I hardly remember what it's like. Your apple pie looks VERY delicious! Nothing better than hot pie and tea on a rainy day, though.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderfully blessed Sunday!
Love and hugs, Cindy
You, too my friend.. Thanks for dropping by.. xo
DeleteYour pie looks so delicious. I made some oatmeal bar cookies this evening. They are cooling right now. Hubby came out into the kitchen hoping to sneek away with one. But he said he was a bit disappointed there weren't any cookies he could take. I said they were square cookies and they would be cut in a bit! He's off shaving at the moment so he doesn't have to do it in the a.m. before church. Would love to have some rain. It's been raining leaves off our heritage birch tree and some make their way into the house, no matter how many times I sweep out front. Sigh! Have a great day, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYou are always such a busy lady, Becky.. Thanks for your sweet comment.. xo
DeleteHello Dear Heart....Your pie looks so scrumptous! Tomorrow is going to be an "apple pie day" here! One for us, one for the daughter, and one for the son...even though they do not live here anymore...but I know they love my apple pie (and so do their families)! It is going to smell good in our kitchen. We are like you....pie is not on our menu very often...although we love it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I made more than 1 pie, Sue, I would have to hide them from you know who.. The kids would have to get here fast to get them.. grin.. xo
DeleteAh how I love apple season... I need to go get me some apples and get busy, lol...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Lady Jane.. xo
DeleteYour pictures are beautiful! You have inspired me to make an apple pie today. I have a big bag of fresh ones that need to be used. Keep on posting Faye. I love reading your blog. You do such a great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Julie.. Sometimes we need to hear that, eh?
Deletexo
Your photos are so nice! I have never put vanilla in my apple pie, or heard of that neat trick of milk n sugar! I have always just brushed mine with a beaten egg. Will have to give your ideas a shot. Yes, 'tis apple pie weather, isn't it?

It certainly tis..grin.. Keep your flurries, though, my dear.. xo
