Loving the Weekend..

Good Evening everyone..
How are you all doing?

We had a wonderful long weekend here in Canada..
It was a very busy one but really enjoyable, too...
We started it out by going to our old cottage down by the Bay of Fundy for a night..
Our first night there for the season.. smile..

I so love the Bay and enjoyed the sound of the waves and all..
The tide was out when we first arrived but came in later, of course..
Terry had to start cleaning up the yard..
A very big job as the Winter must have been quite awesome this year..
So many fallen branches and such..
He did accomplish a lot but we need to keep going down for a day or two a week until we go full time..

I started cleaning the cottage..
I managed to get the fridge, stove, cupboards and floors and such done..
Still much more to do..

It seems to take me three times as long as it used to..
Old age... Oh well...
It will get done when it gets done... smile..

We enjoyed our supper on the stoop ...
So nice doing that..
I love Spring ...

The rhubarb is coming along rather slowly..
Our Spring has been so late but it is here now, thank the Lord..

We only stayed the one day and night.. Terry had to pick up a bush cutter he had rented to use up at the old farm...

We had some family visit..
She kept me company while Dustin helped his Dad..

Out in the back field cutting down bushes...

A little lad is watching Grandpa..

Doing a scary job..
Putting up the new flag..
At least this year he has a better ladder.. smile..

Sorry but you need to read the story to see what I mean..
It was not so scary this time... grin...

The sweet lad in the middle is having a birthday...

He is eight years old now..
They grow up so fast..
Happy Birthday, dear..

And on Sunday we had a wonderful service ...

We are so blessed to attend this little church..
The youth were all at their annual Youth Convention celebrating their walk with God and enjoying sweet fellowship..
Five of our grandsons were there.. smile..

Today we were back out to the farm for a few hours doing a bit more bush cutting..
I scrubbed and waxed the old kitchen floor and made lunch..

But now the long weekend is over and we are back home..
I told Terry we had better stay home for a few days this week so I can catch up with my housework...
Laundry has piled up while we were running the roads but it is great to be able to do these things together..
Retired life has it's moments.. smile..

He just informed me that he is going to the cottage again tomorrow with our other son to fix something down there..

This old gal is staying home and washing towels..

How about you?
Did you have a good weekend?

Thank you so much for dropping by and I look forward to your sweet comments..

Please keep my sweet blogging friend Donna's husband in prayer for healing..

Thanking God tonight for his grace and mercy and His healing power..
Hugs..

Spring Doings...

Good Evening everyone..

A little post here at the first of the week..
The wind is fierce the last couple of days and the snow has been disappearing very quickly..

I love Spring..
It is my favorite season of the year although I enjoy all seasons really.. Even Winter is not the big dread that I had when I was younger..
I have learned to enjoy the coziness of it all with Terry being retired and all.. So long as my children are not travelling to or from work during a storm I actually enjoy most of it..

But Spring just calls my name.. smile..

We went to the city today and bought a table set for our deck..
We needed a new one but since we spend most of the time at the cottage we only bought a cheap one..
We also plan on buying a Deck Swing but we could only find one at Costco and it was quite expensive so we are waiting for a week or two..
No other store had any for sale..
I don't know what's up with that..

I have wanted a swing for years so I am looking forward to it..
This will be our anniversary present to each other as we did not take a little trip or such..

You who have read the blog for a while know we spend a lot of time at our old farm in the Spring..
Well, the picture above is dear hubby taking in some strapping for the ceiling in the back porch..
He has been puttering away at it for quite awhile now so I have finally started putting a bit of pressure on him to finish..
He has tried to spend a day a week up there all Winter so I am wondering how comfortable that old couch there is.. grin..
He is also carrying newspapers to make a fire which he puts on each time he goes..
The snow is still deep and he has to snowshoe in but after the wind and rain this week we are hoping that I will soon be able to go, too..

As the wind was blowing and the rain coming down I took some books and such and sat in the truck for an hour or two and waited for him..

I worked on my crochet..
I am making a mason jar cozy..

And a few mags and books..
Note the size of those snow banks..
Yup... this is Canada..
Once the snow starts to leave it really doesn't take long, though..
These pics were taken last Friday, I think and our fields today are almost bare..

Then our old back roads look like this..

That dear man I am married to loves roads like this and I detest them..
I made him turn around here because I was not wading in the mud to get out..

On our way home tonight we had to travel through water twice before we reached home as the river has overflowed it's banks..
We just go from one extreme to another but no worry..
We are used to it..

Today with snow piles in parking lots fifteen feet high there were people everywhere with hardly any clothes on...
We are a  tough breed, I am thinking..
I prefer a bit of modesty myself but anyway..

A very good thing today is my Mom's 80th birthday..
I posted that we all (17 of us) had taken her out to dinner a couple of weeks ago but her actual day was today..
We are so thankful to still have her with us..
Our Dad has been gone for 25 years and we miss him so but Mom is a going concern..
She bakes pies, breads and such almost every day..
They have a lot of company... smile..
And almost every day she and her husband go shopping..
She told me this morning that she doesn't think she can keep going and picking up cat food or whatever every day..
I told her she should just go every other day then.. grin..

I am just thankful she is quite healthy and so is our Step-Father..
They sure enjoy each other and that is wonderful for not only them but for her family, too..

I had to include this little face..
So cute...

Well, thank you dear friends for dropping by and leaving your sweet comments..
I truly appreciate it..

I must get to bed and listen to the wind..
It is 10:30  (a bit late for me) smile..
Nightie night..

Winter Days..

Hello everyone..
Just a few pics of the last few days..

After being in the house for a week my dear husband took me for a little drive yesterday..
We went up to check on the farm..
Lots of snow up there..

It was so nice to stop for a coffee and go for a nice long drive.. Today we are stayed in again.

I managed to get my Christmas closet all cleaned and decluttered and repacked..
What a satisfying feeling to get it all sorted and done..
The surplus is headed for the Salvation Army..

I kept out a few snowmen for another month or so..
It is still Winter here for a while.. smile..

I have been doing a little baking..
Homemade bread and orange muffins..
Turkey Casserole..
I don't think we want to see turkey for quite some time.. smile..

We are feeling much better, thank the Lord..

Thank you so much for dropping by and visiting..
Enjoy having you all and look forward to hearing from you..

Do you have some Winter projects on the go?
Take care, my dears..
Hugs..

HEADING FOR THE OLD FARM...

Good Evening, my dears..

Just wondering if you would  like to go to the farm with us for the day...

As you know, we have this old farm up in the Kent Hills and we go and spend a day whenever we can..

It belonged to my aunt and her husband's family since 1907 and my family went there often as I was growing up..
When my aunt and uncle went to a nursing home we were so happy to be able to purchase it..

Our kids thought we were nuts but we love it..

Our sons like it now but it is not something Shonda wants us to leave to her in the will.. grin..
Oh well...to each his own, eh!

We didn't leave until late morning but here we are..

Almost there..

See the windmills up ahead..

When we see them we know we are almost there..
Actually, the old place is only about a half an hour from our home..

Sammi (our dog) always knows when we are almost there and puts his front feet up on the dash.. smile..

There it is..
Just sitting there waiting..
Old and dilapidated but loved by us.. smile..

There is always a lot of work to do...
Terry brought the lawnmower..

He wants to cut down all the old grass as it kind of got away on him in the Fall...
This way it will be a lot easier to manage..

As for me...
I get the kettle going..

Since we are tearing the back porch apart we get a lot of flies..
Ugh.. I hate them...

Anyway, I need to give the kitchen a good clean because we haven't been here for awhile..

I think a nice cup of tea is in order, eh?

After all that cleaning this is a good place to drink it.. smile..

We need some supper, too..
I usually bring the main stuff to make meals here but the basics are always in the cupboards..

I guess we will have a salad.. (as usual..)

I brought some parsley...
Do you like parsley and garlic salad dressing?

I always enjoy setting the old harvest table here..

As you know, these  dishes are special as they once belonged to a farmer's wife we loved...

Just a regular tossed salad...

And one of our faves..

Spaghetti Puttanesca

I have pasta only once a week now.. I guess this is it..
smile...

An old rocker sitting in the living room...

The sun shining in the old china cupboard glass...

Well, it is time to go home..
Where is Terry, Sam...

Which way did he go????
grin..

The wind is howling here today..

See my hair blowing.. Straight up.. grin..

How I love the wind..
It blows so much more here than at home..

I need to  sit in the truck or Terry would not quit working..

Now he is cleaning the stream that flows from our spring..

I wish I had half of his energy..

He needs to stop and go home though but I enjoy sitting in the warm truck and listening to the wind..
If we lived here I would need to put a sleeping porch on..
The wind howls and you can hear the brook rushing by..
sigh... zzzz... smile...

The sun is setting out over the barn..

The old place will sit quiet and still while the wind whistles  through the cracks of the barn  ...

The fire will go out in the old stove...

Until we come back again..

Thank you sweet Lord for a lovely day together here at this old place that we count as blessing..

Hope you enjoyed your visit..
Looking forward to hearing from you..

Hugs from an old farm here in Eastern Canada..

Another Farm Day Activities...

Good Morning.. Just a posting of pics today of our farm day yesterday..

Terry stops and gets us a coffee to drink on our drive to
Prosser Brook... smile..
A cave  we always notice on the way..

Early dandelions on the banks....

There is the farm....

Our part of the brook...

Sammi leading the way down the lane...
He needs the exercise...giggle..

Setting the table...

Dinner..... Chicken, mushroom rice, broccoli salad, fiddlehead pickles...fresh spring water...

I can't help myself and make a wee craft..
towel holder from an old pot cover...

Can I come in yet?  smile...

Just about time.... (see how mad he looks:-)  smile..

What I am reading today with my cup of tea....

The kitchen is mostly cleaned and next week, Lord willing, the living room will be next..

It was fun doing this little farm week of blogging.
Hope you all enjoyed and thanks for reading...
Please remember our dear friends in prayer as they cope with their tremendous losses due to the tornadoes...

Have a God blessed weekend...
Hugs...
