Come in and have some breakjfast...

Good Morning my dears...
Here we are on a Saturday morning in December and not  a speck of snow:-)  Are you all in the Christmas mood?.. I expect the malls are flooded today with shoppers.. We are staying home today.. I think... smile..
Look, Terry forgot to turn off the lights in the kitchen window..

See the new Santa Toile curtains that I made yesterday?
I kind of like them for a change.. I usually am not a Santa person since our kids are all grown and even our grandsons are past the age  but I saw this fabric and it called out to me.. grin..

Anyway, it is a bit dark in here but for some reason I love puttering around early in the morning..
Quiet and a bit dark.. Do you?
Where is the coffee pot?

Ahhh... there it is... The first thing I usually do is put Sammi out and put the coffee on..
And then I go into the Family Room and say good morning to my Lord .. He always meets me there.. Every morning.. smile..

I was wondering if you would like some coffee and perhaps a piece of the English Muffin Bread I made yesterday..
I haven't made it since the kids were living here ... I saw it in my cookbook yesterday and as Terry loves this I thought I would make it again.. Besides, we are trying not to buy bread... I just want to make it..
With the no knead recipes it is quite simple.. We don't eat a lot of bread but he likes his toast in the mornings..
Let me slice a couple of pieces off for us, eh!

It has cornmeal on it..  I will toast a couple of slices..

Would you like some homemade strawberry or perhaps the dandelion jelly.. It is so good.. I am so glad I had some left over for us...

I am so glad you dropped in for breakfast...
Are you already for Christmas?  Today, I hope to get the mantel decorated and perhaps the front foyer..
What are your plans?

Oh, yes here is the recipe for the bread..

HOMEMADE ENGLISH MUFFIN BREAD..

2 packages of dry yeast  (I used 4 tsp. of instant yeast)
6 cups of flour
1 T. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 cups of milk
1/2 cup of water
cornmeal
Combine 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda..
Whisk together..
Heat liquids until quite hot and add to dry ingredients..
Stir in the rest of flour to make a stiff batter..
Grease and sprinkle  2 x 8-1/4 by 4-1//2 inch pans with cornmeal..
Spoon  into pans and sprinkle with cornmeal..  Cover with a tea towel and let rise until doubled for bout an hour..
Bake in 400 degree F. oven for 25 minutes or so..
Remove from pans immediately and let cool..

Well, I must get to work.. So glad you dropped by..
Have a blessed weekend.. Let me know how you are all doing..
I so enjoy your visits and comments..

Oh my... it is still raining out there..

Is it raining where you are?

God bless you all..

  1. Lovely breakfast. We are having our coldest day so far this year, the moon was so bright last night it was like day. I always enjoy your pictures and music. I would like to sit on that sofa with all the pillows, I especially like it.

  4. Faye, I really would enjoy a breakfast like that - in fact it's pretty similar to mine most mornings!

I really love the Santa toile curtains! What a lovely way to add Christmas to the kitchen decor!
    Blessings to you!

  6. Good morning Faye,
    The valance turned out lovely.
I love waking up to Christmas lights, we turn them off at night but I do try to have them all on before the boys are up for the day.
I think I may be making the bread today while I have the oven on for Winterberry and Sasafrass's Baked Apple Muffins.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Kendra

  7. Your Santa on the window sill is so cute! (from last post) I love your new valance, so sweet and Christmas-sy.
I have not made the English muffin bread for years, I should make some no-kneed bread today! That would be good for supper and for snacking on later. Thank you for the inspiration. I am going to address and write out a few Christmas cards today and mail a package to Daughter #2. That's about it. It's almost 11:00 and I am finally ready to shower and get dressed for the day. I am usually up and at it sooner than this every day of the week, but I decided to be lazy today.
    Have a wonderful day.
    Love and hugs, Cindy

  10. Hi Faye! I'm a bread lover from way, way back. My daddy used to be a cook & baker in the Merchant Marine & he made the most delicious homemade bread. I was hooked early & I think I would rather eat a good piece of hot homemade bread slathered with butter (or sprinkled with salt) than a piece of cake or a box of candy : ) I love your Santa curtains! I have never been much of a Santa person myself ... I try to let Christ take the center stage He deserves at Christmastime ... but I could really enjoy those curtains : ) Someone else posted photos of several cross stitch Santa ornaments she made recently & I am being enticed by those too. Blessings, Shirlee

  11. I love your window. The decorations and the curtains look so inviting. I would love to come in and share a cup of coffee with you. Some of that homemade bread and I would love to try that dandelion jelly. I never did get around to making it this year. Hopefully I can remember it next year. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  13. I love your view, the curtains are just wonderful. I love the fabric! The windows look so appealing. I love your cottage. I have never made this kind of bread before, but it sure sounds good. Another one I will have to try!

I am working on food for the Sisters meeting coming up Tuesday. A little bit of everything easy, cooked meatballs, cranberry & broccoli slaw (because it's special at Christmas), a cheese ball & crackers, and for dessert, Christmas bread, from Debbie Macomber's new cook book, made with cream cheese and strawberry filly. She called for raspberry, but I had strawberry. I made it during Thanksgiving, my fellows loved it. I have it already made in the freezer, just need to thaw & bake.

    Here's a thought from way back in 2001, from a Bishop in a women's service I visited:

You are now carrying Mary's Baby!

Something to ponder on this frigid night!
