Come on in and have a wee visit....

Well, girls here we are... Another day in the life of Faye Henry..
Here it is just five days before Christmas day and guess what my dear sweet husband decides he NEEDS to do?

Yup... you guessed it... Put on some coveralls and cut down some trees.. Can you believe it???
We have two blue spruces right in front of our house..
We have lived here for over 25 years and they have grown huge.. The thing is that they have been shedding big time on our roof and so he decided that they had to go before they ruined it..
Ok... but today... so close to Christmas...
Yes... What can a woman do???

Let's just go in the house, shall we?
Oh, here is an old chair here on the front step..

Lori... one of the Keepers of the Home made me the lovely bundle...I think the skates used to belong to Shonda...
Winter Greetings, eh!

Come on in..
It is a lovely cold day and Terry has the wood furnace on..
Come in...
I have a snowman theme going on here in the front foyer..

A snowman tree... I think most of the ornaments are homemade..

And this old hall tree used to hang in Terry's childhood home.. We treasure it..
I made Mary and Joseph last year...
And down below that is the bench I shared with you a bit ago..
As you can see the garland holds a stocking that I made for each of our 5 grandsons.. smile..

Oh, yes and one for Sammi... (our inherited dog...grin)

Anyway, come on in and sit while I make a salad for lunch..
I made this for the Keepers supper the other night and the girls wanted me to put the recipe  on here..
I had enough stuff left to make us one for lunch..
Here is the recipe.. My dear friend Lynn gave it to me several years ago..

CRUNCHY PEA SALAD..
2 cups of frozen peas..(thawed).
1 cup of celery chopped
1 cup peanuts, halved
6 crisp slices of bacon
1/4 cup of chopped red onion..

On a plate or lovely platter put the peas on the centre and then arrange the rest of the ingredients on the edge of them..
Save a few of the onions and bacon for the top..
The dressing.... 1/2 cup of mayo blended with 1/4 cup of zesty Italian dressing.. Pour this mixture over top of the ingredients..
Garnish with the remaining onion and bacon..

It is a pretty salad to serve over the Christmas season, too..

Well, I wonder how the dear man is doing.. smile..

One tree down and one more to go...

Oh my... what is he going to do with all of this..
And now there are only 4 days left... grin..
You will have to go out the back door, I think... grin..
Thank you for the sweet visit... As you know I love having you and hearing your sweet comments..
How are you all doing for the season?..

So take care sweet ladies..
Sending you love, joy and peace..

  3. Those were some big ole trees! If they were in my front yard I would be afraid the wind would blow them over on me. :) Your decorations are SO pretty! I love all the snowmen and the Crunchy Pea Salad looks so, so good.

    Have a great night.

  5. Wow!!! Your Christmas decorations are so beautiful!! I really love the little stockings with the boys names on them. What a great idea. My grandchildren (of which there are 8) would love that. 6. Your home is so lovely and inviting Faye! Wish I could pop in for a visit; but I live too far away! It's sad to see trees have to come down; but for safety I can understand. Maybe you could salvage some of those fragrant boughs for decorating!

  7. Wow~ I must say Terry has the right equipment to work with, Faye! A bucket truck makes it a lot easier to trim those trees. My hubby works for the power company and whenever we need a tree cut or trimmed, he "borrows" one from work... *shhhhh*- don't tell... *grin*
Your house is so beautiful... I just love the way you've decorated everything so pretty and festive.
I haven't had crunchy pea salad in years but it was always one of my favorites! I'm sure it was a big hit at your gathering. I'm wondering how a bowl of leftovers would do being mailed to Tennessee... *giggle*
If I don't talk to you before Sunday, I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, sweet friend.

  8. Wow those are some trees (were some trees!) At least the problems are eliminated now! The clean up of any job is always the worst! I love you home, every thing is just so pretty. I have never liked peas, (yuck phooey), except sugar snaps straight from the garden. However I know, I would love this, so I will have to try it. I already want some (smiling your way!). I hope you have a wonderful week. God Bless You. I would love to own my own bucket truck! Maybe that's what I'll ask for for Christmas this year!

  9. Hi Faye, It does look as if your Terry i knows what he is doing and is sure of himself. That is good. Those trees are really big. He will sleep well tonight and tomorrow night! Must be the day for coveralls and being outside! My hubby was cleanning out the hedge row out back with the chain saw. He said it was good working weather.

Oh, the salad looks divine! YUM!

  10. Oh Faye, our men's minds all work alike. (smile) At least he is doing it the safe way. Wish my mister had a bucket like that when he brings a tree down. Now you are ready for all that heavy snow this winter. Love the decor in your home. Perfect! That salad looks yummy. Thanks for sharing the recipe with us. Have a blessed Wednesday. Hoping Terry cleans the yard for you and makes a path for Santa. Have a Merry Christmas spent with friends and family.
